What started as one person's passion for waste reduction became groundbreaking research on Taiwan's plastic consumption habits. Despite having one of the world's most efficient recycling systems, Taiwan still consumes 2.2 billion single-use cups annually and 700 plastic bags per person. As an island nation directly impacting the Pacific Ocean, Taiwan presented the perfect case study for exploring circular economy solutions.


Our goal: Determine whether consumers would embrace circular business models to replace single-use plastics and create actionable insights for governments, companies, and NGOs. This paper represents a journey from individual awareness to systemic solutions.
